In this Business or anything else in life. From what we all know, we’ve only been here once. On resumes my go to is always that I pick up things very easily and that I am a fast learner. As a child I was diagnosed with what they called a learning disorder. See I was hyper. It was the 90’s and literally almost Everyone was on Ridilin. I strongly remember my childhood finishing before everyone else and teachers insisting to my parents that I was rushing and just wanted to be first. How long can you stare at 5+5. I mean in my eyes you either knew it or you didn’t. So as I grew older the patterns continued. My mother would leave her job working for the county to come find me at our childcare after school dance classes in the corner. “Why is she in the corner?” “Well, the other girls didn’t get the routine yet and she got it right away. I didn’t know what to do with her so.. “ So you put me in the corner? Most of American teaching sadly still to this day is based off of making quotas and success rates. It’s a business. I once had a friend of mine tell me that private prisons build jails based off of how many kids pass or fail by the eight grade in metro cities. They know whether or not the chances of them to commit crimes and they adjust accordingly. I have friends who are teachers, don’t let yourself get confused. It’s sad that In a time where we didn’t have the tools or the voices where we do now that the teachers or schools didn’t feel like they could challenge the curriculum. I don’t know. Maybe it’s just the way that it was. I find it odd though coming from a generation that burned their bras and marched for women’s equality. It’s like we somehow got lost in the mix. Where was I, ah yes! My ADHD, sorry something shiny went by. So getting back to the work force and whatever field that we may find ourselves in. Hopefully you love it and aren’t miserable. And if you are, invest, dip into your pension and quit. Life’s to short to be miserable all the time. While living in NY I had a friend who came from another country and we talked about role models and finding out how they got to where they did and how does one go about it. I won’t say his name but he was a good friend of mine and he came to this country well off, highly educated and driven. He found an email to a well respected actor and by some crazy force ( he was very persuasive) he responded! I was like. Huh? I think one of the biggest obstacles that we have In our society is our egos and how we let that get in the way sometimes of exactly what it is that we want to do. You’ll find, I found at least. People are more than happy to share their stories of success and the struggles they went to, to get there. Everyone sees the after affect, but only the ones who have been there since day 1 know the constant hurdles, failures and triumphs it takes to get there. People LOVE talking about themselves. They do. We all do. If your doing in a way that is pure and you really want to learn as long as you can tell that someone won’t steal your ideas or take advantage. Most people really do have some EXTREMLy great advise. And are willing to share it with you. My cousin told me once you have to find your replacement before you can be promoted. That really stuck with me. I was like oh my god. That makes so much sense. Then I had a million questions like do they know do you know. Haha my mind wanders. It’s true though. There is a woman who I respect and love her taste. I didn’t know who she was or that she was famous. But I was new to this business and I straight up asked her can you mentor me? It’s a tough world out there and anyone who’s ever owned a business or know anyone that does. People will take from you and they don’t give a FUCK. It’s eat or be eaten. I do not have a trust fund and I know some people that do. But if you find yourself in a place where you want to grow and you organically clique with someone ask them questions. Then ask them more. Apply it to your life. Life’s too short to be doing things that we don’t love and nobody says that you have to. Hope you guys enjoyed reading this have a great day. Tomorrow’s Thursday and only one more day ‘til that weekend. Peace love and hairgrease. Cait
