So, part of the joys of fall and living in upstate New York for that matter. Is that you never know what the weather's going to be like. You wake up in the morning and its freezing, and by the afternoon its time for drinks on the back deck and its 80 degrees. What in the?
So what do you wear? Start by building a capsule wardrobe.
Something I learned in the years of modeling was the importance of BASIC pieces. That word gets a bad rep around here alot lately, but actually Basic is where its at, and it's what you really need. If you are trendy then you know that trends can go as quickly as they come. That's why you should never spend alot of money on something you don't wear all the time. Unless you LOVE it. For instance, you wouldn't spend $1,000 on a bright pink Louboutin, because you don't wear it all the time. You would however, buy the black pumps, because it's an investment piece you will wear more often. You SHOULD however also splurge and spend that $50 on that white tee at Gap because it will get you farther.
Spend more on your basic pieces, and build them as you go.
THINGS YOU NEED RIGHT NOW

A Basic Tee.

A Trench.

Jeans.

A Casual Shoe.
I like to get my tees from J.Crew. My jeans from Gap, and right now at Macy's they have a Ralph by Ralph Lauren coat half off priced at 100 dollars. Your welcome. Oh and P.S. Don't exclude Marshall's for those tees. ;)
