There's one thing every home needs. and it's a bar.

Just like your space, your bar can be a way to show your guests your style, and a way to express your personality.

Most bars have been on carts, but for centuries the style of a dresser or credenza serves as the same purpose.

When decorating your bar try to keep a few basic pieces that provide function, and is also ascetically pleasing. There are also a few main things you should always have on hand.

1. Alcohol.

When deciding what you should have, some people buy to impress, but buy drinks that you actually drink. The rest can come later.

Start Small. You can build your bar just like your wardrobe. Start with drinks like, Vodka, Rum, Bourbon, Tequila and whiskey. You should also have mixers such as tonic, club soda, and always think of guests who may not be drinking. Seltzer and flavored San Pelligrino are a good go to as well.

Once you know that your guests are arriving you can place perishable items such as nuts or lemon and limes. Also filling up your ice bucket.

Your cart should consist of Art, Alcohol, one living piece. Such as a plant or a flower. Glasses, a champagne bucket, cocktail shaker and barware. (bottle openers, corkscrew, straws.) You can also include something personal to you like a souvenir from a trip or a picture of your spouse or BFF.
