Baby Gardens! 🌿 🍅

Updated: Dec 2, 2019

How to make a garden that works for you.

This year I have to admit we slacked. I am a member of our neighborhoods garden club I have to admit that doesn’t take up that much time. But between that and the rain and just enjoying my children. I really just didn’t hadn’t have the time. Or the motivation.

One thing I knew for certain though was that I wanted a indoor herb garden off our kitchen window just within reach of our stove.

Our kitchen got redone and totally renovated back in 2016. And one of my main goals was to just cook and bake. We have a tv in their with a gaming console so my teenager and his friends can be in the house but still have their own space. Separate from the rest of the house.

The kitchen is where you congregate. At parties. You hang out there. People just gravitate to right right? So, I just wanted a space where I could cook while I watch my kids ( my younger one play outside While I did the dishes. ) Or they do homework at the island while I cooked. đŸ‘©â€đŸłđŸ„’đŸ”Ș

It was a sneaky way to get my whole family. Together. ;) It worked.

So a few years back I saw some outdoor gardens perhaps in the hamptons but that wasn’t my direction at the time and I didn’t know where to get them.

Since then I found a very old vintage milk crate from Crowley’s Milk co. and it fit the bill perfectly.

It was in our house and the bottom was missing a piece on one side. So my daughter loving how she likes to tackle anything asked to hammer the other side.

So a couple of nails and a few try later...

We had a container!

We lined the bottom with cardboard so that it wouldn’t loose soil since their were some holes in it. I filled the bottom of the container with mulch due to the fact of how deep it was. Then layered the remaining half with potting soil.

Then we planted!

It’s perfect for salads and to keep indoors. My daughter can easily pick for appetizers or salads that we’re having and we don’t have to worry about any little critters 🐛disrupting our plants. 🌿🍅

Hope you guys found some inspiration from this and if you have any ideas from your own please share!

Bon Appétit!
